Millikin Runners Strong in Hot Race

The Millikin men's and women's cross country team turned in strong performances at the Brissman Lundeen Invite at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois on September 22. The field battled hot temperatures with the races shortened due to concerns over the heat.
         The event splits its large field into two divisions with the Big Blue competing in the Gold Division. The Millikin women were third out of 17 teams with 156 runners competing. In the men's Gold Division, Millikin was fourth out of 22 teams with 215 runners taking part.
         Freshman Mackenzie Dixon was the Big Blue's fastest runner in the 5K race finishing in 11th with a time of 20:47.4. Junior Ripley Vonhoff was 32nd in 21:27.4.
         The Millikin's top finisher was William Powell who was seventh covering the four mile course in 21:54.4. Joey Davies was ninth in 21:58.6.
         Millikin will host its annual H.W. Wright Classic on September 29 at the Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur.
