Millikin’s Blackwell & Dixon Headed to NCAA Indoor Track Championships
DECATUR, Illinois—Millikin University sophomores Brea Blackwell (Chicago, Thornton H.S.) and MacKenzie Dixon (Edwardsville, Mascoutah H.S.) have qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships to be held on March 8-9 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, Mass.
Blackwell qualified in the Triple Jump at with a mark of 11.66 meters (38-3.25) turned in at the 2019 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Track and Field Championships. Blackwell’s mark ranks 18 best in Division III this season.
Dixon qualified in the 800 Meters in a converted time of 2:14.30. Dixon’s time from the CCIW Championships of 2:15.84, was run on a flat track, and was converted for NCAA selection purposes to a banked track time. This year’s NCAA Championships will be ran at a banked track facility. Dixon’s time ranked 17th best of declared Division III athletes in the event.
The NCAA Championships field is comprised of the top 20 performances this year in each individual event.
Dixon will compete on Friday at 6:20 p.m. ET in the 800 Prelims. The finals in the event are set for Saturday at 3:55 p.m. ET. Blackwell competes in the Triple Jump on Saturday at 11 a.m.
This marks the second trip to an NCAA Championships for both athletes after competing in the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships last season.
