Big Blue Volleyball Escapes with Road Victory

    The #19 ranked Millikin volleyball team escaped an upset bid from Illinois Wesleyan with a 3-2 win on October 29 in Bloomington, Illinois.  Millikin improves to 28-5, 5-1 and secures a spot in the CCIW Tournament.  With one conference game remaining Millikin can finish no worse than second in the CCIW regular season standings.  Illinois Wesleyan is 16-11, 3-3.

    Millikin won the first set 25-21, but the Titans took the next two sets 27-25 and 25-19.  Millikin battled back to take the fourth set 25-19 and took the decisive fifth set 15-8.

    Senior Audrey Krajec led Millikin with 19 kills.  Freshman Alora Goodey and Erin Syversen each had 11 kills.  Syversen added a team high 16 digs and three service aces.  Goodey had a .474 hitting percentage.  Alicia Thompson led Millikin with 29 set assists.

    Kyleigh Block led Illinois Wesleyan with 24 kills.

    Millikin will play three games this weekend in tournament action at Washington University in St. Louis.  The Big Blue host CCIW foe Elmhurst College in the regular season finale on November 4 at 7 p.m.  

    The CCIW tournament will be on November 7-8 at the conference regular season champion.  Carthage currently leads the conference with a 6-0 record.
