Millikin Women Fall at #5 Washington University

          The Millikin women's basketball lost a hard fought contest 76-65 at #5 ranked Washington University-St. Louis on Dec. 13.  Millikin goes to 6-2 while the Bears improve to 8-0.
          Millikin stayed close to the unbeaten Bears in the first half leading a multiple occasions and going into the locker room trailing 34-31.  Washington University-St. Louis took control of the game in the second half leading the entire way with its biggest lead at 16 points before the Big Blue battled back.  This was the closet game all season for Washington University-St. Louis who had outscored its opposition by an average of 22 points per game.
          The Bears shot 44 percent from the field while Millikin shot 40 percent.  The Bears had the advantage at the free throw line hitting on 21-29 (72 percent) while Millikin hit on 8-15 (53 percent).  Millikin won the rebounding battle 40-38.
          Millikin's top scorer was Alyssa Saklak with 14 points and four rebounds.  Yip Yypa added 11 points and Holly Haskins had 10 points and four assists.  Kelsey Going had eight points and at team high six rebounds.
          Melissa Gilkey had 31 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Bears.  Maddy Scheppers added 18 points.
          Millikin will be back in action on Friday, Dec. 19 at St. Mary's College (Indiana) for an 8:30 p.m. ET tip.  Millikin will be at Olivet College on Dec. 21.
