Millikin Women’s Basketball Falls At Home

The Millikin University women's basketball team fell 71-60 to Elmhurst College in a CCIW battle on January 10 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.  Millikin is now 10-4, 1-2 while Elmhurst improves to 9-5, 2-1.

The Big Blue came out strong taking the lead early in the first half and taking a 31-29 advantage into the locker room at halftime.  Millikin lead until 6:44 left in the game when Elmhurst's Mikaela Eppard tied it with free throws to make it 54-54.  Hannah Lipman gave the Bluejays the lead for good at 56-54 with 6:08 left to play. 

Millikin, the national leader in field goal percentage, suffered through a cold shooting night hitting only 37 percent from the field.  Elmhurst connected on 45.5 percent from the field including 56 percent in the second half.  Elmhurst won the rebounding battle 40-35.

Millikin was led by Hannah Millington with 14 points and five rebounds.  Alyssa Saklak came had her third consecutive double double scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and Yip Ypya also in ended the game in double figures with 10 points.

Eppard led the Bluejays with 16 points and 12 rebounds.  Hannah Lipman added 16 points.

Millikin will host Illinois Wesleyan University on January 14 at 7 p.m.
