Millikin Men Fall at Carthage

    The Millikin men's basketball team lost at Carthage College 80-76 on Janaury 17 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
    The Big Blue could never overcome a poor start with Carthage opening the game with a 21-2 run.  The Big Blue battled back and pulled within nine at 36-27 at halftime.  Carthage again opened up a 19 point advantage early in the second half.  Millikin never gave up and the Big Blue rally ran out of time falling by four points.  Carthage lead by 10 points with 37 seconds left, but the Big Blue got three-pointers from Elijah Kinmon and Jacob Kueker to make it 77-73 with 23 seconds left.  Carthage's Brad Kruse hit three of four at the free throw line in the final seconds to hold off Millikin.  Parker Day's three with two seconds remaining pulled the Big Blue to 80-76.
    Carthage shot 52 percent from the field.  Millikin shot 44 percent from the field including 51 percent in the second half.  Millikin hit on 50 percent from three point range.  Carthage edged Millikin in rebounding 33-31.
    Freshman TJ Sims led Milikin with 22 points.  Kueker and Nathan Biggs each scored 12 points.  Kueker had a team high eight rebounds.
    Carthage had four players in double figures led by Cameron Van Wyk with 16 points and Mike Stevenson with 15.
    Millikin will host Wheaton College on January 21 at 7 p.m.
