Millikin Women’s Basketball Opens with Win

         The Millikin women's basketball team opened the 2015-16 season with a 75-63 win at Monmouth College on November 15 in Monmouth, Illinois.
         Millikin took the lead early and built a 19-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter.  Monmouth rallied late in the second quarter and had a 33-31 lead at halftime.
The game was tied at 39-39 with six minutes left in the third quarter when Millikin went on a 20-4 run to end the quarter with a 59-43 advantage.
         Millikin shot 46 percent from the field while Monmouth hit on 40 percent of its shots.  The Big Blue won the battle on the boards out rebounding Monmouth 41-35.
         Millikin got a career high 30 points from senior Alyssa Saklak.  Saklak added nine rebounds.  Devin Curry had 21 points and four assists.  Emily Schultz had 14 points and eight rebounds.  Emma Hoyer tied Saklak for the team high in rebounds with nine.
         Kelsey Walsberg led Monmouth with 21 points.  Tia Robertson added 15.
         Millikin will be back in action on Tuesday, November 17 hosting MacMurray College at 7 p.m.
