Millikin Women’s Basketball Rolls at Principia

         The Millikin women's basketball team rolled over Principia College 59-39 on December 30 in Elsah, Illinois.  The Big Blue improved to 7-4 on the season while the Panthers drop to 1-6.
         Millikin scored off the opening tip and never looked back in its final non-conference game of the season.  Millikin led 16-9 after the first quarter and went into the locker room at halftime with a 33-15 advantage.
         Millikin shot 37.5 from the field while holding Principia to 24 percent.  Millikin dominated the glass out rebounding the Panthers 49 to 30. 
         Freshman Cassie Somers led the Big Blue in scoring with a career high 17 points along with three rebounds and two assists.  Alyssa Saklak scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds.  Emma Hoyer had eight points and a team high five rebounds.  Nineteen players saw action for Millikin.
         Kara Johnson led Principia with 14 points.  Sophia Hathaway had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
         Millikin opens up action in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin on Saturday, January 2, 2016 when they travel to Carthage College.
