Big Blue Men Lose in Overtime

          The Millikin men's basketball team lost its final game of the season falling 70-68 in overtime to Carthage College on Feb. 21 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.
          Millikin had a 24-20 advantage at the half and built a 12 point lead in the second half leading 41-29 with 13:25 left in the game.  Carthage then fought its way back tying the game at 53-53 with five minutes left to play.  Carthage would push the advantage to 59-53 with three minutes left before Millikin would mount its own comeback.  Two TJ Griffin free throws with 46 seconds left to play would tie the game at 59-59.  Donte Logan would give the Red Men the lead with a layup with 15 seconds to go.  Millikin would tie the game at 61-61 on a TJ Sims rebound and basket with two seconds left on the clock.
          A Sims three pointer and two Tommy Pilackas free throws would push the Big Blue to a 66-63 lead in overtime.  A Myles Olsen three pointer gave Carthage the advantage for good with one minute left to play at 68-66. 
          Carthage shot 47 percent from the field including 64 percent in the second half.
Millikin shot 45 percent from the field.  Millikin won the rebounding battle 33-27.
          Millikin's top scorer was Sims with 22 points.  Griffin scored 16 including going 12-12 from the free throw line.  Bryn Agnew was also in double figures with 10 points.  Pilackas had eight points and a team high seven rebounds.
          Ellis Matthews led Carthage with 18 points with Olsen scoring 15 and Mike Stevenson adding 14.
          Millikin finishes the year at 8-17, 3-11 while Carthage wraps up at 10-15, 5-9.
