Big Blue Softball Ends Florida Trip Splitting Two Games

    The Millikin softball team finished its 10 game Florida trip splitting two games on March 13 in Clermont, Fla.  Millikin's win over St. Thomas and loss to Wittenberg give the Big Blue a 6-4 record on the trip and a 6-8 record overall.
    In game one, Millikin knocked off previously unbeaten the University of St. Thomas (7-1) by a score of 7-3.  St. Thomas jumped out to a 3-0 in the first inning, but Millikin would rally late in the game for the win.  
    Millikin scored one run in the fourth and put up a six running fifth inning.  The fifth inning was highlighted by two run singles by Alexis Dockins, Becca Thompson and Heather Doyle.  Thompson was 5-5 in the game.  Dockins and Erica Forbes each had two hits.  Cathy Lebryk earned the pitching win.
    Katie Jo Delisle and Breezy Bannon each had two hits for St. Thomas.
    Millikin lost game two 9-1 to Wittenberg.  Wittenberg scored six runs in the first inning and two in the second to take control the game early.  Thompson had the Millikin run batted in.
    Casey Hobbs and Ashlee Wright each had three hits for Wittenberg.
    Millikin is scheduled to return to action on March 20 hosting the University of Winsconsin-Eau Claire at 3 p.m. at Borg Warner Field.
