Millikin Softball Sweeps Pointers

          The Millikin softball team swept the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers on March 28 at Borg Warner Field in Decatur, Illinois.  The Big Blue won game one 7-3 and staged a late rally to win game two 6-5.
          Millikin trailed in game one 3-0 in the third inning before getting on the board.  Junior Alyssa Visvardis hit a three run homer in the bottom of the third to make it a 3-3 game.  Millikin added an unearned run in the fifth and three more in the sixth to secure the victory.  A Justice Miller two-run homer highlighted the Millikin sixth.  Miller went 2-3 in the game and was the only Millikin player with more than one hit.
          Cathy Lebryk was the winning pitcher for the Big Blue throwing seven innings and allowing three runs (two earned).
          Katie Uhlenbrauck and Alison Kuhne had two hits for the Pointers in game one.
          After a four run sixth inning in game two, Millikin trailed 5-0 heading to the bottom of the sixth.  Millikin answered with a six run rally to pull out the victory.  Millikin had seven hits in the sixth inning.  Rachel Kindred and Nicole Koch had two hits each for Millikin.  Koch, Visvardis, Erica Forbes, Alexis Dockins and Brooke Heimerl all had RBIs in the sixth inning.
          Heather Doyle was the winning pitcher for Millikin in relief throwing one and one third innings allowing one hit and no runs.
          Sam Raddant had two hits including a home run for the Stevens Point.  Uhlenbrauck and Sydney Opdahl also each had two hits.
          Millikin is now 10-10 on the season while Wisconsin-Stevens Point goes to 6-9.
          Millikin will open up College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play on Friday, April 3 hosting Augustana College at 1 p.m.
