Millikin Baseball Wins in Extra Innings

    The Millikin baseball team won at Elmhurst College 8-2 in 10 innings on April 27 in Elmhurst, Illinois.
    Millikin opened the scoring with a single run in the first inning.  Lucas Stefan singled to start the game and scored on a Frank Barnes run scoring single.
    Millikin added a run in the fourth when Julian Gutierrez walked, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Brian Ekiss.
    Elmhurst tied the game in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single by Zach Tsiodras and a sacrifice fly by Mike Rostine.
    The Big Blue answered in the top of the 10th inning on three hits and three Elmhurst errors.  Barnes had an two run triple in the inning to start the Big Blue rally.  Barnes scored on a RBI by Gutierrez.  Millikin added an unearned run on a Bluejay throwing error and scored twice on Elmhurst wild pitches.
    Barnes led the Millikin offense with two hits and three RBIs.  Stefan, Ekiss and Kaleb Krigbaum each had two hits.  Millikin starting pitcher Max Paolicchi pitched into the ninth inning allowing seven hits and two earned runs while striking out eight.  Ben Peters was the winning pitcher in relief allowing two hits over two innings.
    Millikin is now 15-19, 6-12 while Elmhurst falls to 12-23, 5-13.  The Big Blue will host MacMurray College on Wednesday, April 29 at 7 p.m. at Sunnyside Park.
