Big Blue Baseball Downs North Park

    The Millikin baseball team scored a home CCIW victory defeating North Park University 8-5 on April 3 at a cold and windy Sunnyside Park in Decatur, Illinois.
    North Park built a 3-0 advantage after three innings.  Millikin cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth inning when Julian Gutierrez hit a pinch hit homerun after Frank Barnes suffered an injury.  The two run blast was Gutierrez first career home run.  Mililkin tied the game in the sixth with a run scoring double by Kaleb Krigbaum.
    Millikin broke open the game with a five run eighth inning.  Joey DiLeo had a two run single to give the Big Blue an 8-3 advantage.
    North Park scored two runs in the ninth on a two run single by Zak Worsley.
    DiLeo had three hits to lead the Millikin offense.  Krigbaum, Brian Ekiss, Jake Stanton, Barnes and Gutierrez each had two hits.
    Kyle Davidson picked up the win on the mound improving to 4-1 on the season.  Davidson pitched eight innings allowing eight hits and five runs (four earned) while striking out eight.  
    Worsley led North Park going 4-5 with two RBIs.
    Millikin improves to 10-10 on the season and 2-4 in CCIW action.  North Park is now 10-12, 0-6.
    The two team will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 4 starting at 1 p.m. at Sunnyside Park.
