Millikin Wrestlers 2-1 at Budd Whitehill Duals

The Millikin wrestling team went 2-1 in the first day of action at the Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on January 8.
         Millikin's first win of the day was a comeback victory over the host school Lycoming College 24-20. The Big Blue's Tristan Birt gave Millikin its first win at 125 by technical fall at 18-3. Blake Tisza won at 157 for Millikin by defeating Matt Neff 7-3.
         Millikin trailed 20-8 heading into the final three matches. In the 184 pound weight class, Keajion Jennings was down after the first period, but Jennings changed the momentum of the match by scoring a victory by fall at 4:56. Myron Hamilton then dominated at 197 winning in a major decision 18-6. In his first action for Millikin James Buss gave the Big Blue the victory in the dual, winning at 285 by fall at 52 seconds.
         Millikin dominated its match with Trine University winning 49-5. Tristan Birt opened the match with a win over David Moore by fall at 2:39. The Big Blue's Zach Whitsel followed that up with another win by fall at 133 pounds. Kerin Ramirez won for Millikin at 149 with an 18-3 technical fall over Austin Nault. Tisza won at 157 improving to 18-2 on the season. He pinned Sean Jones at 2:30.
         Other Millikin winners included Dylan Knisley at 165 (by Fall at 4:39), Stephan Birt at 174 (20-3 by technical fall), Jennings at 184 (fall at 2:29), Hamilton at 197 (3-2) and Buss at 285 (Fall 2:38).
         In the first match of the day, Millikin lost to #16 Williams College 32-15. Millikin wins went to Tisza at 157 over Jonathan Berry 16-4 (MD) and Stephan Birt at 174 with a technical fall 15-0 win over Carl Sangree. Millikin won at 285 by forfeit.
         Millikin will be back in action in the tournament on Saturday, January 9
