Millikin Football Loses to Illinois Wesleyan University

          The Millikin football team closed out the 2016 season with a 24-13 loss to Illinois Wesleyan University on November 12 at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Illinois.  Millikin finishes the season at 4-5, 3-5 while Illinois Wesleyan ends their campaign at 7-2, 6-2.
          The first half was all Illinois Wesleyan with the Titans jumping out to a 17-0 advantage.  The Titans scored on two one yard runs from Maurice Gilmore-Shoemaker and a 22 yard field goal from Andrew Iwaszkiewicz.
          Millilkin got on the board in the third quarter.  Nicco Stepina connected on a two yard touchdown pass to Gerald Perry make it 17-7.  The scoring play was set up by a 72 yard Stepina to Perry pass play that took the ball to the Titan 12 yard line.
          Illinois Wesleyan scored on a 20 yard pass from Brandon Bauer to Brian Johnson with 5:06 left in the game to move the lead to 24-7.  The play was set up by a failed fake punt play by Millikin that gave the Titans the ball at the Big Blue 20 yard line.
          The Big Blue kept fighting scoring on a 37 yard pass from Stepina to Jordan Smith to make it 24-13 with 3:28 left in the game.
          Illinois Wesleyan had 419 yards of total offense with Millikin generating 319 yards.  The Titans were most effective on the ground rushing for 223 yards while Millikin did most of its damage in the air throwing for 309 yards.
          Stepina was 22-41-1 passing for 309 yards and two touchdowns.  Perry had 12 catches for 177 yards.
          Austin Harrell led the Titans in rushing with 142 yards.  Bauer was 20-31-1 for 196 yards.
          Senior Mykal Neal led the Big Blue with 12 tackles and a forced fumble.  Freshman Daniel Jackson had 11 tackles.  Senior Danny Beresky had eight tackles and one interception.
          Sean Garvey had nine tackles to lead the Titan defense.
