Millikin Volleyball Wins Twice

          The Millikin volleyball team picked up two wins on the second day of the Pizza Hut Classic at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on September 10.  The Big Blue went 3-1 in the tournament and are now 6-2 on the season.
          Millikin defeated Concordia University (Wis.) 3-2 (25-21, 14-25, 26-24, 17-25, 15-9) to open play on Saturday.  Erin Syversen had 14 kills, 14 digs and three service aces for the Big Blue.  Kelsey Talkington had eight kills and six blocks and Alora Goodey added eight kills and three blocks.  Cassidy Kingery had a team high 24 digs and Emily Mihalkanin had 28 set assists and two service aces.
        "CU-W challenged our offense greatly with stellar defense, strong serving, and strong blocking and we had difficulty scoring," said Head Coach Debbie Kiick.  "We tried many different options with 14 different players seeing court time.  But we hung tough and pulled through winning a five set match for the first time this season.  Kelsey Talkington found the floor hitting .368 in the match along with garnering six stuff blocks for points in the match."
          In the second game the Big Blue defeated St. Scholastica 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-14, 25-19).  Syversen again led the way with 19 kills and 13 digs.  Emily Seegmiller added 11 and Goodey had 10.  Kingery had 22 digs. Mihalkanin and Rose Syversen each had 25 set assists.
        Erin Syversen and Kingery were named to the Pizza Hut Classic All Tournament Team.
