Big Blue Football Falls to #7 North Central

          The Millikin football team opened play in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with a 42-7 loss at seventh ranked North Central College on September 24 in Naperville, Illinois.
          The Cardinals opened the scoring early in the first quarter on a three yard touchdown pass from Broc Rutter to Alex Ulmer.  Austin Breunig's two yard run North Central ahead 14-0.   Rutter would connect with Ulmer on a 25 yard pass to make it a 21-0 lead.
          Millikin answered back with a 15 yard touchdown pass from Nicco Stepina to Gerald Perry. 
          Another Breuning run this time from three yards out game the Cardinals a 28-7 advantage at the half.  Jack Dibble added two touchdown runs for the Cardinals in the second half.
          Stepina was 11-22 for 197 yards.  Perry was Millikin's top receiver with seven catches for 124 yards. 
          Rutter was 13-21-1 passing for the Cardinals for 223 yards.  Breunig rushed for 94 yards on 22 carries. 
          Nikia Averitte led Millikin with 12 tackles.  Caleb Belcher had an interception for the Big Blue. 
          North Central had 409 yards in total offense while holding Millikin to 285 yards.  The Cardinals had six sacks in the game.
          Millikin will look to rebound on Saturday, October 1 when they host North Park University at 6 p.m. for Homecoming.
