Millikin Men’s Basketball Opens with Victory

         The Millikin men's basketball team opened the season with a 79-62 win at Finlandia University in Finlandia, Michigan on November 18.  The victory gave new head coach Mark Scherer his first win directing the Big Blue program.
         Millikin took the lead midway through the first half and new relinquished it.  The Big Blue led 42-33 at the half and led by as many as 23 points in the second half.
         Millikin dominated the boards outrebounding the Lions 48-22.  Millikin's defense forced 21 turnovers giving the Big Blue 29 points off turnovers.
The Big Blue shot 43 percent from the field and 42 percent from three-point range.  Finlandia shot 49 percent and 31 percent from three-point range.
         Junior transfer Elijah Henry had an impressive Big Blue debut scoring a team high 23 points and grabbing 18 rebounds.  Transfer Michael Beaty had 16 points and nine rebounds.  Millikin sophomore Jordan Cunningham had 14 points and six rebounds.  DaVante Harrell had nine points and seven rebounds.
         Dylan Underwood led the Lions with 18 points.
         Millikin will travel to St. Louis on November 21 to face Webster University.
