Millikin Advances to CCIW Championship Match

          The Millikin volleyball team defeated Elmhurst College 3-1 in the semifinals of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament on November 3 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.  The victory sends the Big Blue to Saturday's Championship Match against Carthage College at 6 p.m.
          Millikin lost the first set 25-22, but rallied to win the next three sets 25-15, 25-17 and 25-17. 
          Senior Erin Syversen led the way for Millikin with 20 kills and nine digs. Fellow senior Alora Goodey had 15 kills and seven digs.  Senior setter Emily Mihalkanin had 44 set assists, five kills, two service aces and four digs.  Junior Meredith Artime had a team high 14 digs with two service aces.
          Alli Rogers led Elmhurst with 12 kills.
          Carthage College was a 3-0 (25-23, 30-28, 25-21) over Illinois Wesleyan in Friday's first semifinal.  The Lady Reds were led by Megan Behrendt with 16 kills and 10 digs.
          Millikin improves to 28-6 on the season.  Carthage is now 24-8 on the year.  Elmhurst finished the season at 10-19.
          The winner of Saturday's final earns the CCIW's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.
