Millikin Men Fall at Wheaton

         The Millikin men's basketball team lost at Wheaton College 78-68 to open play in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) on December 2 in Wheaton, Illinois.
         Millikin struggled with its shot in the first half while the Thunder had the hot hand.  Wheaton shot 57 percent from the field in the first half while Millikin hit only 36 percent.  Wheaton led 46-28 at halftime.
         Millikin found its shot in the second half and went on a 28-7 run in the first nine minutes of the half to cut the Thunder lead to three at 56-53 with 10:50 left in the game.  Millikin outscored the Thunder by eight points in the second half, but could never overcome the first half deficit.
         Millikin shot 47 percent from the field, but struggled from three-point range going 1-10.  Wheaton made 52 percent from the field.  The Thunder had a big advantage at the free throw line making 22-26 (85 percent) while Millikin went 9-16.  Millikin won the rebounding battle 35-29.
         Elijah Henry led the Big Blue with 22 points and 12 rebounds.  DaVante Harrell had 12 points, six rebounds and three assists.  Michael Beaty added 10 points for Millikin.
         Ashton Francis led Wheaton with 31 points.
         Millikin is now 4-2, 0-1 while Wheaton improves to 5-1, 1-0.
         Millikin returns home on Wednesday, December 6 hosting Elmhurst College at 7 p.m.
