Big Blue Women Fall in CCIW Opener

         The Millikin women's basketball team lost at #23 Wheaton College 63-46 to open the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) on December 2 in Wheaton, Illinois.
         The contest was a low scoring battle with Wheaton hitting only 39 percent from the field while the Big Blue hit only 24.5 percent of its shots.  Millikin won the rebounding battle 44-41, but was hurt by 24 turnovers.
         Wheaton led 15-10 after the first quarter.  Millikin suffered through a cold shooting second quarter making only 1-13 from the field.  The Thunder led 27-12 at the half.  Millikin battled back in the third quarter outscoring Wheaton 19-12 to make it a 39-31 Thunder lead.  Wheaton outscored Millikin by nine in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
         Millikin's top scorer was Devin Curry with 12 points and four rebounds.  Lauren Moses had a team high 12 rebound with four points.  Freshman Jordan Hildebrand had 10 points and five rebounds.
         Wheaton got 12 points each from Maggie Dansdill and Hannah Frazier.
         Millikin is now 3-2, 0-1 while Wheaton improves to 4-1, 1-0.
         Millikin plays at Elmhurst College on December 6.
