Millikin Men’s Basketball Loses to Thunder

          The Millikin men's basketball team lost to Wheaton College 77-57 on February 8 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.
          The Thunder pulled away late in the first half and held a 39-23 advantage at halftime.  Millikin kept close to Wheaton in the second half with the Thunder outscoring Millikin only by four points.  Wheaton shot 56 percent from the field including 44 percent from three point range.  Millikin hit on 46 percent from the field and hit on 4-12 (33 percent) from three point range.  Wheaton won the rebounding battle 27-20.
          Tyler Pygon had 10 points, three assists and two steals for Millikin.  Michael Charles II added 10 points and two steals.  Freshman Korbin Farmer had eight points and five rebounds and Jordan Cunningham had eight points and four rebounds. 
          Aston Francis led the Thunder with 31 points and six steals.  Jay Spencer added 14 points and Jake Mlagan scored 12.
          Injuries continue to mount for Millikin.  The Big Blue started the game without injured starting guards Chase Smith and Jack Simpson.  Millikin freshman Zach Fisher left the game late in the first half with a foot injury and missed the rest of the contest.
          Millikin is now 3-18, 1-12 while Wheaton goes to 11-11, 6-6.
          Millikin will have a much needed weekend off before returning to action on Wednesday, February 15 at Elmhurst College.
