Millikin Football Rolls Over Greenville

          The Millikin University football team opened the 2017 season in impressive fashion downing Greenville University 76-3 on August 31 at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Illinois.
          Millikin dominated the game gaining 602 yards in total offense while holding the Panthers to just 141 yards.  The Big Blue passed for 363 yards and rushed for 239.
          Millikin quarterback Nicco Stepina was 23-32 passing for 306 yards and a school record seven touchdowns.  Stepina had seven carries for 60 yards. Twelve different Millikin receivers caught passes with Jordan Smith pulling in three catches for 59 yards and three touchdowns.  Freshman Marquis Yarbrough led the way with five catches for 68 yards and one touchdown.  Freshman Tyrice Hines also had a touchdown reception.
          Freshman running back Jazontae Howard had two catches for 45 yards and one touchdown and rushed five times for 46 yards.  Junior Deonte Robinson had eight carries for 57 yards.  Freshman Rashid Maclin had 12 carries for 47 yards and two touchdowns.
          Senior Isaiah Blumenshine led the Millikin defense with seven tackles including three tackles for a loss.  Gabe Xayathone had three tackles with two tackles for a loss.
          Greenville's points came on a 23-yard field goal by Bradley Stubbs.
          Millikin will travel to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Sept. 9.
