Millikin Football Loses To #5 North Central

          The Millikin football team lost to fifth ranked North Central College 51-21 on a very hot and steamy day at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Illinois on September 23.
          With temperatures over 90 degrees throughout the day, the game was played under College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Heat Protocols with a five minute hydration break taken midway through each quarter.
          The contest was a tight one in the first quarter with North Central jumping out to a 7-0 advantage.  The Cardinals scored 34 points in the second quarter to secure the victory. 
          North Central had 523 yards of total offense while Millikin gained 334 yards.  The Cardinals threw for 309 yards and rushed for 214.  The Big Blue had 264 yards passing and 70 yards rushing.
          Millikin quarterback Nicco Stepina was 25-44-2 for 264 yards and three touchdowns.  Jordan Smith had six catches for 115 yards while Gerald Perry had six catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns.  Stepina and Perry connected on scoring plays from seven and 20 yards out.  Stepina's other touchdown as a four yard completion to freshman tight end Colton Kelsey.
          North Central's Broc Rutter was 21-31-1 for 309 yards and two touchdowns.  Austin Breunig had 16 carries for 89 yards to lead the North Central rushers.  Dominick Muoghalu had 39 yards on 12 carries with three touchdowns.  He scored on two one yard runs and one four yard play. 
          Daniel Jackson led the Millikin defenders with 14 tackles.  Matt Brown had eight stops.  Adonis Williams had an interception and four tackles.
          North Central's top tacker was Pat Cravens with 12.
          Millikin is now 2-1 and 0-1 in conference play.  North Central improves to 3-0, 2-0.
          The Big Blue will travel to North Park in Chicago on September 30.
