Big Blue Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight

Box Score The 12th ranked Millikin volleyball team defeated 20th ranked Gustavus Adolphus 3-2 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Invitational on September 8 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Millikin scored a hard fought victory over a very good Gustavus Adolphus team that had not lost a set this season. Millikin lost the first set 25-14 before winning the next two sets 25-23 and 25-21. After dropping the fourth set 25-17, Millikin won the fifth set 15-12.

Erin Syversen led Millikin with 14 kills, 12 digs and four service aces. Alora Goodey had 13 kills and Emily Seegmiller added 12 kills and 19 digs. Marissa McElroy had a team high four blocks with nine kills. Meredith Artime had a team high 24 digs. Rose Syversen had 21 assists followed by Emily Mihalkanin with 18.

Kate Holtan led Gustavus Adolphus with 12 kills.

Millikin improves to 5-0 while Gustavus Adolphus goes to 5-1.

The Big Blue will be back in action in the tournament on Saturday with two matches.
