Big Blue Men’s Defeat Illinois College

         The Millikin men's basketball team defeated Illinois College 85-76 on December 19 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.
         Millikin started the game out strong jumping out to a 13-0 advantage over the first six minutes of the game. The Big Blue led the entire game, but Illinois College regrouped and fought its way back into the game with Millikin leading 32-28 at halftime.  The Big Blue started to pull away midway through the second half.  A run that saw Calvin Fisher hit two three-pointers and three free throws gave Millikin its biggest lead of the game at 74-53 with 6:46 left in the game.
         Millikin shot 43 percent from the field making 15-26 (58 percent) from three-point range. Illinois College hit on 47.5 percent from the field and went 9-20 from three-point range. Millikin won the rebounding battle 36-32.
         Calvin Fisher led Millikin with 21 points and five rebounds going 5-6 from beyond the arc. Zach Fisher finished with 17 points and Elijah Henry had 10 points and team high eight rebounds.
         Riley Mehrens led Illinois College with 16 points.
         Millikin improves to 6-4 while Illinois College falls to 3-8.
         Millikin will play at Rose-Hulman on December 22.
