Big Blue Baseball Splits Finale Home Doubleheader

          The Millikin baseball team spilt its final home date of the year against Greenville University on May 4 at Sunnyside Park in Decatur, Illinois.  Millikin won game one 5-0 and the Panthers took game two 7-5.
          Ben Williamson pitched the Big Blue to victory in game one throwing seven shutout innings allowing only three hits while striking out three.
          It was a record tying day at the plate for Millikin.  Devin Crews and Jon Walters each homered in the game tying the Big Blue record for home runs in a season at 11 set by Kyle Kmiecik in 2002 and David Travis in 2003. Crews was 2-3 in the game with two RBI and Walters went 2-3 with one RBI.  Luke McConnell also homered for Millikin.  Luke Azzarelli went 2-3 with a double and a run batted in. 
          Millikin jumped out to a 4-1 lead in game two, but Greenville scored four runs in the third to go ahead 5-4. Millikin's Jake Drada homered in the fourth to tie the game at 5-5.  Greenville scored the game winning runs in the sixth inning on a two-run homer from Jesse Getz.  Getz also doubled in the game.
          Andrew Auton had two hits for Millikin.  Crews added another base hit in game two pushing in school record setting total for hits in a season to 66.
          Millikin is now 18-21 and will conclude the 2018 season on Sunday, May 5 at North Park University.  Greenville goes to 18-18 on the season.
