Millikin Triathlon is heading to Nationals!

Terrible weather from the remnants of Hurricane Florence could not keep the members of the Millikin Triathlon team from doing what they came to do in Tennessee! All four of the Millikin triathletes completed the course to set the stage for a trip to the NCAA Championship event in Tempe, AZ later this fall.
The Central Qualifier course was incredibly challenging, even by professional standards. The field included athletes from DI, DII, DIII and collegiate Club teams. The course was modified at the last minute, acknowledging the impact of weather on the athletes and ensuring their safety. Junior Morgan Powers of Shelbyville, Ill. led the Big Blue, finishing the course in 49:52. Powers was followed closely by freshman Hope Roderick of Edwardsville, Ill. in a time of 50:51. Two additional freshmen rounded out the team finishes for Millikin. Jaden Lockard of Centennial, Colo. finishing at 53:41, and Brigid Duesterhaus of Decatur brought it in at 58:14. The Big Blue finished third among the Division III colleges competing in the event.
Next up is the Tri the Illini event in Champaign on September 30th.
