Millikin Competes in First Ever Triathlon Event

The Millikin University triathlon team participated in its inaugural event hosted by North Central on Monday, September 3 in Naperville, Illinois.

With a strong showing from Elizabeth Moore from Transylvania, only 21 athletes survived the NCAA "lap out" rule. Junior Morgan Powers of Shelbyville, Ill. took top honors for the Big Blue finishing the full course in 1 hour 18 minutes and seven seconds and taking 14th place. Freshman Jaden Lockard of Centennial, Colo. finished close to Powers in a course time of 1 hour 19 minutes and 19 seconds and taking 16th place. Two additional freshmen, Hope Roderick of Edwardsville, Ill. and Brigid Duesterhaus of Decatur, Ill. were just on the brink of completing the course. It was a strong showing by the Big Blue athletes with just two weeks of training under their belt.

The Big Blue Triathlon team will face its second event of the season at the Central Region Qualifier in East Tennessee on September 16th.
