Millikin Women’s Basketball Downs Elmhurst

         The Millikin women's basketball team picked up a conference road win at Elmhurst College 79-72 on January 26 in Elmhurst, Illinois.
         Millikin led 22-16 after one quarter before the Bluejays took control of the game. Elmhurst led 44-33 at halftime and 60-52 after three quarters.  Millikin rallied in the fourth quarter outscoring Elmhurst 27-12.
Millikin's Yanni Saddler's basket and free throw gave the Big Blue the lead at 63-62 with seven minutes remaining. Jordan Hildebrand would convert the basket and one to push Millikin's lead out to 66-62 with 5:49 left in the game.  The Big Blue would lead the rest of the game and held off the Bluejays going 10-10 from the free throw line in the final three minutes.
         Millikin shot 42 percent from the field and went only 3-12 from three-point range.  The Big Blue had a major advantage at the free throw stripe going 28-37 the result of 29 Elmhurst fouls.
         Elmhurst shot 47 percent from the field and went 1-4 from three-point range. The Bluejays were 12-17 from the free throw line.
         Saddler led Millikin with 30 points including going 12-14 from the free throw line. Hildebrand had a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Aubrey Staton scored 12 points and had nine rebounds. Briana Anthony scored 11 points with four assists.
         Kellee Clay led Elmhurst with 19 points.
         Millikin is now 6-13, 2-8 while Elmhurst goes to 8-11, 4-6.
         The Big Blue host North Central on January 30.
