BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Millikin Women's Volleyball continued their weekend on the road as they faced University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and University of Wisconsin - Platteville in the second day of the Holiday Inn Express Classic, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University. The Big Blue would fall to University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, and would beat University of Wisconsin - Platteville to bring their record to 18-11 on the season. 

Millikin's first match of the day would see the Big Blue take on the #4 regionally ranked University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire BluGolds, who would improve to 15-9 on the season after defeating the Big Blue 3-0. In the first set, Eau Claire would get off to a hot start, going on a five-point scoring run to take a quick lead. Three plays later, Eau Claire would go on another five-point scoring run to go up 11-2 early. The Big Blue would make a push late in the set, going on a seven-point run to come within three of Eau Claire, but would fall with a final score of 25-22. 

The second set saw Millikin take an early 8-4 lead, but a four-point run by Eau Claire would quickly close the gap and tie the game at eight. Two five-point scoring runs late in the set for Eau Claire would help the BluGolds win 25-16 over the Big Blue. In the third set, Eau Claire would lead the Big Blue the entire set, ending the match in three sets with a 25-17 final score. 

In the second match of the day, Millikin would face #8 regionally ranked University of Wisconsin - Platteville, beating the Pioneers with a final score of 3-1. Millikin would beat Platteville in the first set with a final score of 25-22 after back and forth scoring the entire set. 

The Big Blue would keep up with Platteville in the second set, but the Pioneers would come out ahead of the Big Blue after being tied at 22-22 to win the set with a final score of 25-23. The next set, Millikin would take a 2-1 lead in the match, beating Platteville 25-17, the largest point differential of the match. Millikin would go on two five-point scoring runs in the set. Millikin would end the match in the fourth set, going on a six-point scoring run to come back from a 22-19 deficit to take the lead late in the match, beating the Pioneers with a final score of 25-23. 

Millikin's Lauren Brummel tied Platteville's Olivia Kudronowicz for most kills in the match with 14, while freshman libero Julianna Vassallo tied with Platteville's Stephanie Kalinowski for most digs, posting 20 in the match. 

The Big Blue will face first place Carthage College on Wednesday, October 30 at 7:00 PM in their final CCIW conference matchup of the 2019 season.
