Millikin Football Loses at Illinois Wesleyan

        The Millikin football team lost at Illinois Wesleyan 40-12 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) action on November 2 in Bloomington, Illinois.  
        The first half was all Millikin with the Big Blue taking a 12-7 advantage into the halftime locker room.
        After forcing Illinois Wesleyan to punt on its first possessions, the Big Blue quickly got on the board on a nine yard run from Cal Pohrte.  The run was setup by a 46 yard pass from Pohrte to Colton Lockwood to get the Big Blue in the Titan Red Zone.
        The Titans then answered on a 22-yard run by Johnny Dicanio to make it 7-6, Illinois Wesleyan with 9:19 left in the first half.
        The Big Blue defense would force the Titans into three and out on three of its first four possessions.
        Pohrte would connect with Lockwood from 45 yards out to make it 12-7 Big Blue with 1:14 left in the first quarter.
        Millikin missed scoring opportunities on three drives in the second quarter with the Big Blue driving into the Illinois Wesleyan Red Zone.  A dropped pass, penalty and time expiring in the half resulted all three opportunities coming up empty.
        Millikin had 340 yards of total offense in the first half (including 202 passing yards) while holding Illinois Wesleyan to 138 yards.
        Illinois Wesleyan took control of the game in the third quarter scoring 18 points and shutting down the Big Blue offense.  Early in the third, Dicanio connected with Bryce Dooley from 37 yards to give Illinois Wesleyan 13-12 and it was all Titans the rest of the way.
        Millikin ends the game with 449 yards of total offense including 309 passing yards.  The Titans gained 412 yards with 300 yards passing.
        Pohrte was 15-38-4 for 309 yards and one touchdowns.  Lockwood had seven catches for 208 yards.  Jordan Smith had six catches for 102 yards.  Ladavion Severado has 32 carries for 148 yards.
        Dicanio was 19-35 passing for 300 yards and three touchdowns.  He rushed for 68 yards to lead the Titans. 
        Millikin goes to 4-4, 3-4 and Illinois Wesleyan improves to 5-3, 5-2.
        The Big Blue travel to Washington University-St. Louis on November 9 at 1 p.m.
