Big Blue Softball Wins in Tournament Action

         The Millikin softball team won two games at the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament on April 13 in Bloomington, Illinois. The Big Blue defeated Wisconsin Eau Claire 6-0 and the University of Chicago 7-6.
         Freshman starting pitcher Aly Armstrong was dominant in the win over Wisconsin Eau Claire. Armstrong threw seven shutout innings allowing just four hits while striking out eight.
         Millikin got all the runs it would need with a three run first inning. The Big Blue padded its lead with three more in the fifth innings. Maggie Comerford and Alyssa White had run scoring singles in the first inning for Millikin. White hit a three-run homerun in the Big Blue fifth. White finished the game 2-3 with four RBI.
         The Big Blue rallied with two runs in the seventh inning to defeat the University of Chicago 7-6. White had the game winning hit with a two-run single. Comerford was 3-3 with two RBI. Bailey Gowin had two hits for Millikin. Gracie Brookens was the winning pitcher in relief.
         Katie O'Donnell led the University of Chicago attack going 3-4 with three RBI.
         Millikin is now 20-8 on the season.
