Millikin Falls in CCIW Tournament Winners Bracket Game

         After winning two games on Thursday, the Millikin baseball team dropped the winner's bracket final game in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin 4-0 to the number one seed North Central College on May 10 in Naperville, Illinois.
         North Central jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Matt Sutherland opening the inning with a double and scored on a Jeremy Quade base hit.
         The pitchers controlled the game until the seventh when the Cardinals' Ryan Scott hit a two-run homer run to put North Central up 3-0. The Cardinals added an insurance run in the ninth inning.
         Charlie Klemm of North Central was the story of the game limiting Millikin to just three hits and no runs in nine innings of work with five strikeouts.
         Millikin's Ben Williams threw six and one third innings allowing seven hits and three earned runs while striking out three.
         Michael Stolz had three hits for the Cardinals. Scott and Joe Rizzo each had two hits.
         Anthony Bryan, Andrew Auton and Gabe Soria had baseball hits for the Big Blue.
         Millikin's Brent Beals, Mason Bruce and Jon Walters set Millikin school records for most games played in a season with 42. Bruce tied the record for most games played in a career with 149 games.
         Millikin is now 2-1 in the tournament will play on Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. against the survivor of the losers bracket contests on Friday night.
         Millikin is now 23-19 while North Central improves to 30-11.
