Big Blue Tennis Finishes in Fifth at CCIW Championships

         The Millikin men's tennis team finished in fifth place at the 2019 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships held on May 2-3. The Big Blue won two matches on Friday at the Fairview Tennis Center defeating Carroll University 5-1 and Elmhurst College 5-0.
         In the Fifth Place match, Millikin scored three points in the doubles competition.  Jacob Palley and Colin Sandgren teamed up to defeat Elmhurst's David Demoll\Shawn Sabaricos 8-0. Millikin's Greg Schwoeppe and Logan Bennett won at two doubles 8-3 and Nick Laramee and Ryan Sikora won at three doubles 8-6.
         The match was played to decision so the Big Blue secured the win with singles wins by Palley at one singles 6-1, 6-1 and Bennett at four singles 6-2, 6-1.
         In Friday's first match, Millikin defeated the Pioneers 5-1. Millikin won two points in doubles with Schwoeppe\Bennett winning 8-6 and Laramee\Sikora winning 8-0.  Carroll's Chayce Roecker and Joseph Harrison won at one doubles 8-4.
         Millikin earned the three deciding points in singles with Schwoeppe winning 6-0, 6-4, Bennett winning 6-0, 6-0 and Reiss Naylor winning at six singles 6-1, 6-4.
         Millikin ends the season with a record of 15-7.
