WAUKESHA, Wis. - Millikin University Women's Volleyball traveled north to face Carroll University in their CCIW season-opening match against the Pioneers. Trailing 2-1 going into the fourth set, the Big Blue would tie the match forcing a fifth set to decide a winner. Millikin improves to 6-4 on the season.
The Big Blue would kick off the match with a victory in the first set, winning 25-22 over the Pioneers, going on four runs of scoring three or more points. The second and third sets would be taken by Carroll, giving them a 2-1 lead after three sets of play. The fourth set saw Millikin break down the Pioneers, winning 25-14, going on a five point run to end the set and send the game into the fifth set. The fifth set would end with a final score of 15-8, giving the Big Blue their first conference victory of the season.
CCIW Volleyball Player of the Week
Rose Syversen posted a season-high 46 assists, bringing her total on the season to 333. Senior
Skylar Harris was key in securing a win, coming off of the bench in the fifth set and served three consecutive aces for the Big Blue.
Millikin will be on the road for their next contests, participating in the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point Invitational on September 20-21 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
