Big Blue Men’s Basketball Falls in Overtime

        The Millikin men's basketball suffered a 92-89 overtime loss at Carthage College on January 18 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
        The game featured a number of scoring runs and a second half comeback by the Red Men.  Trailing 8-7, Millikin went on a 16-0 to pull out to a 23-8 lead with 11:52 left in the first half.  Carthage would then answer with its own 11-0 run to make it 23-19 Millikin with 8:09 left in the first half.  The Big Blue would then push its first half advantage to 16 points before the Red Men rallied make it 43-32 Big Blue at halftime.  Millikin's first half spurt was fueled by 17 points from Calvin Fisher and 10 points from Sam Stichnote.
        Carthage controlled the first six minutes of the second half battling back to tie the game at 51-51 with 14 minutes remaining.   The Big Blue would lead for the next 13 minutes pushing out to a seven point lead at one point.  Carthage would stage a late rally and tied the game at 81-81 with 1:11 left on a three-pointer by Crishawn Cook.  The Red Men would outscore Millikin 12-9 in the overtime period to pull out the win.
        Millikin shot 52 percent (33-64) from the field and made 10-23 (43.5 percent) from three-point range.  Carthage shot 40 percent (27-68) from the field and made 10-32 (31 percent) from three-point range.  Carthage had a 15 point advantage at the free throw line making 28-34 from the free throw line while Millikin made 13-19.  Carthage was 18-20 from the free throw line in the second half.
        Fisher led Millikin with a double double with 22 points and 10 rebounds.  Jake Hampton had 18 points.  Troy Burrows scored 13 points and Stichnote ended the night with 11.
        Carthage had five players score in double figures led by Fillip Bulatovic with 20 points and Cook with 15.
