DECATUR, Ill. - Millikin University Triathlon competed in their first event of the 2020-21 academic year last week, taking part in the Women's NCAA Virtual Triathlon. Junior Triathlete
Hope Roderick would place the highest for the Big Blue, finishing in fourth place overall.Â
The event would be the first event for newcomers
Shay Buchanan,
Analynn Bullock and
Julia Druml and an introduction back into competition for returning athletes, who placed third at the USA Triathlon National Championships last year.Â
The Big Blue would complete the bike portion of the race last Thursday at Lincoln Trail Homestead Park, where sophomore
Kaitlin Yelaska would finish the race first in 19:01.80 with freshman
Julia Druml finishing second in 19:03.00.
In the swim portion of the event, junior
Brigid Duesterhaus would complete the 375 yard race first in 4:10.80 with
Hope Roderick following close behind with a 4:12.00 finish.Â
Hope Roderick would be the first athlete to finish the run portion of the race, posting a 10:28.20 time in the 2.5k run.
Julia Druml would come in second behind Roderick, finishing in 10:52.80.Â
The Big Blue would finish the event with four athletes finishing in the top 10, with
Hope Roderick placing fourth, and
Morgan Rockwell,
Kaitlin Yelaska and
Brigid Duesterhaus coming in eighth, ninth and tenth place, respectively. Â
