Tennis Drops Contest to LeTourneau University

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Millikin Men's and Women's Tennis continued their spring break in Hilton Head, South Carolina as they competed against LeTourneau University at this year's Spring Tennis Fest. Both men and women would be defeated 6-3, bringing the men's record to 1-7 on the season and the women to 5-10. 

LeTourneau Women's Tennis would pick up their first win of the year with the victory over Millikin. In women's doubles action, Katie Cooper and Danielle Beard would be the only pair to pick up a win, beating Summer Apostalo and Amber Van Duyn 8-5. Shelby Jones and Brianna Barconi would lose to Maddison Brackenreg and Bailey Deatherage 8-1 in the #1 doubles match and Alena Hinch and Amber Rezinas would fall to Samantha Trevino and Sierra Giesen 8-4. 

In singles play, Brianna Barconi and Alena Hinch would win their matches with Barconi defeating Samantha Trevino in the #2 match 3-6, 7-5, 10-5. Alena Hinch played at #5 against Summer Apostalo and would win 6-4, 6-1. Shelby Jones would face Maddison Brackenreg in the #1 matchup and would fall 6-3, 6-2. In the #3 singles match, Danielle Beard would be bested by Bailey Deatherage 7-5, 6-4. Katie Cooper would go up against Sierra Giesen in the #4 spot and would lose 6-0, 6-3. Amber Rezinas went head to head with Mimi Samdi but would be topped 6-1, 6-2. 

On the men's side, the Big Blue would copy the women's results, winning one doubles match and two singles matches to be defeated 6-3. In doubles, the lone win would come from duo Jacob Palley and Logan Bennett who would beat Jimmie Henson and Christian Ferris 8-4. Clayton Maack and Holden Owens would see Julian Lee and Miles Grubbs in the #2 doubles match but would lose 8-4. James Broach and Cory Erickson would take on Nathan Scmidt and Rodrigo Vazquez at #3 but would fall 8-2. 

Jacob Palley would also win his singles match, beating Jimmie Henson 6-2, 6-1 at the #1 spot while Clayton Maack picked up another win for the Big Blue in the #2 singles match defeating Christian Farris 7-6, 6-4. Holden Owens would be defeated at #3 to Julian Lee 6-3, 6-0, Logan Bennett would fall to Nathan Schmidt 6-3, 6-2, Nick Laramee would square off against Rodrigo Vazquez and fall 6-2, 6-2 and Adrian Sanchez-Rodriguez would be topped by Miles Grubbs 6-4, 6-4. 

Millikin Men's and Women's Tennis will continue competing at the Spring Tennis Fest on Wednesday, March 11 as they take on Ohio Wesleyan University at 8:30 AM ET.
