Millikin Wrestlers Ready to Defend CCIW Title

The Millikin wrestling team is ready to return to the mat as the Big Blue look to defend its 2020 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Wresting Championship title. The Big Blue opens the season on Sunday, January 24 hosting a round of dual meets against North Central, Augustana and Elmhurst.

The Big Blue feature three returning CCIW individual champions from last year's teams that scored Millikin its first ever CCIW team title. Leading the way is three time CCIW Champ and three time All-American junior Bradan Birt. Senior Tristan Birt returns after winning two straight conference championships and Logan Hagerbaumer returns at 197 pounds to defend his title. Hagerbaumer earned All-American status last season after qualify for the NCAA Tournament that was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bradan Birt was 36-1 in 2019-20 setting a new mark for the best season for a Millikin wrestler. Bradan Birt is 103-13 in his career.
Tristan Birt has a 47-23 career mark and Hagerbaumer was 22-6 last season for Millikin.

Due to COVID-19 protocols and regulations, no fan are allowed at CCIW competition this season include Sunday's meet at Millikin. Millikin will provide several ways to follow the action from home for Sunday's matches.
