Millikin Men’s Basketball Falls to #2 Titans

        The Millikin men's basketball team lost to second ranked Illinois Wesleyan University 74-60 on February 16 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.
        The Big Blue played solid game, but didn't have enough offense to keep with the sharp shooting Titans. Illinois Wesleyan led 35-23 at halftime. Millikin made a run to start the second half. Back-to-back three-pointers from Sam Stichnote cut the lead to 35-29 with 18:52 remaining in the game. Illinois Wesleyan push to advantage back out and held a lead, no larger than 12 points, over the next eight minutes of action. The Titans pulled away in the final ten minutes leading by as much as 24 before the Big Blue fought their way back into contention.
        Millikin shot 45 percent (19-42) from the field including hitting 10-20 in the second half. The Big Blue shot 7-9 (37 percent) from three-point range. Illinois Wesleyan hot 53 percent (29-55) from the field and made 7-19 from three-point range. The Titans won the rebounding battle 25-24.
        Calvin Fisher led Millikin with 12 points and six rebounds. Jake Hampton added nine. Stichnote, Michael Akinwumi and Scott Gowan each added eight.
        Matthew Leritz led the Titans with 16 points and six rebounds. Doug Wallen scored 15 points followed by Keondre Schumacher with 14.
        Millikin falls to 1-7 while Illinois Wesleyan improves to 4-0.
