Match Recap: Men's Tennis | | Morgan Vogels

Men's Tennis Secures Victory over Greenville

The Millikin Men's Tennis team took on Greenville University at the Racquet and Fitness Center in Springfield, IL on Saturday, February 20, securing a 6-3 victory over the Panthers. 

In doubles play, Jacob Palley and Clayton Maack defeated Austin Burkhart and Zach Merrill 8-4. The team of Holden Owens and James Broach beat Luke Motsinger and Tyler Bloom 8-6. Rounding out the doubles matches, Cory Erickson and Nick Laramee posted an 8-3 victory over Mathew Rodriguez and Thibaut Tignee. 

On the singles side, Jacob Palley won both sets at #1 over Austin Burkhart 6-2, 7-5. Both Clayton Maack and Holden Owens also secured victories at #2 and #3, with Maack defeating Luke Motsinger 6-3, 6-4, and Owens taking down Tyler Blume 6-3, 6-0. In #4 singles, Nick Laramee faced Greenville's Mathew Rodriguez and was defeated 6-0, 4-6, 10-8. Also victorious for the Panthers was Zach Merrill at #5, taking down Cory Erickson 6-4, 6-2, and Thibaut Tignee at #6 who defeated Millikin's Justin Caldwell 6-2, 7-6 (7-6).

The Big Blue Men's Tennis team will be back in action on Saturday, February 27 on the road at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
