Men's Volleyball Downed by Loras College

The Big Blue Men's Volleyball team traveled to Dubuque, Iowa for a matchup with the Duhawks of Loras College on Wednesday, February 24. Loras had a 1-2 record coming into the game, with both losses coming to ranked opponents in Dominican University (No. 6) and Carthage College (No. 9). 

Millikin was downed by the Duhawks in three sets (15-25, 13-25, 28-30). During the third set, MU trailed until tying the set at 17. A kill from Peter Sailsman gave the Big Blue a 23-22 lead. Loras kept with the Big Blue, pulling ahead 25-24 but Millikin tied the game once again at 25 with a kill by Colby Campbell. After a kill by Kyle Clendenen to tie the game at 28, two straight kills from Loras middle Patrick Mahoney sealed the sweep for the Duhawks. 

The Big Blue was led by Campbell who tallied seven kills and a third set block that helped shift the momentum into MU's favor during the tight set. Jakob Henderson added six kills, two aces, and led the Big Blue in digs with seven. 

Robbie Maida tallied 21 assists, and Sailsman chipped in four kills and five digs. 

Mahoney helped lead Loras to victory with 12 kills, and Joe Horn had three service aces for the Duhawks. 

The Big Blue will be on the road again this weekend in Naperville, Ill. to take on the North Central College Cardinals on Saturday, February 27.
