Big Blue Men’s Basketball Loses at Augustana

The Millikin men's basketball team lost at Augustana College 98-82 on February 5 at the Carver Center in Rock Island, Illinois. The game was delayed one day due to winter weather in the Quad Cities area on Thursday. The two teams will play again on Saturday, February 6 at 7 p.m. at the Griswold Center in Decatur.
 
Millikin started off the game slow missing its first seven shots and trailed 17-4 five minutes into the game and could never recover from the deficit.
Augustana went on to lead 45-31 at halftime. The Vikings shot 54.5 (18-33) percent from the field in the first half while Millikin hit only 34.5 percent (10-29). Millikin shot the ball much better in the second half making 16-27 (59 percent). The Vikings made 17-27 (63 percent) keeping Millikin from making a second half run.
 
For the game, Millikin shot 26-56 (46 percent) from the field and went 6-17 (35 percent) from three-point range. Millikin was 24-32 from the free throw line (75 percent). Augustana shot 35-60 (58 percent) from the field and made 13-30 (43 percent) from three-point range. The Vikings were 15-19 from the free throw line. Millikin won the rebounding battle 32-28.
 
Calvin Fisher led Millikin with 26 points followed by Scott Gowan with 20. Freshman DeMarcus Bond scored 10 points and had six rebounds.
 
Augustana was led by Carter Duwa with 29 points and. Luke Johnson added 22 and Daniel Carr score 21 points with 12 rebounds.
 
Millikin is 0-4 while Augustana improves to 2-2.
