Millikin Baseball Drops Road Doubleheader

The Millikin baseball team lost a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) road doubleheader at Elmhurst University on March 27 in Elmhurst, Illinois.
 
The Big Blue lost game one 7-3. The Bluejays used home runs from Carter Truong and Lorenzo Farino to jump out to an early 3-0 after three innings.
Millikin rallied with two runs in the on a two-run home run from catcher Garrett Fritz. Fritz was the only Big Blue hitter to get more than one hit going 2-3 for the game.
 
Elmhurst scored one run in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to break open the game. Truong led the Bluejays attack going 2-4 with three RBI. Jaysn Miller was the winning pitcher for Elmhurst throwing eight innings allowing only seven hits while striking out eight.
 
The Big Blue dropped game two 12-7. Down 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning, Elmhurst took control of the game early scoring six runs in the second inning. Millikin battled the entire game, but couldn't overcome the early deficit. Frank Bryan led the Millikin attack going 3-5 at the plate with a double. Brent Beals and Fritz each had two hits including a double. Kyle Kane drove in three runs.
 
Paul Fomby led Elmhurst going 4-4 with four runs scored and two RBI. Troy Taller had three hits for the Bluejays.
 
Millikin is now 11-3, 4-2 on the season while Elmhurst improves to 8-5, 4-3. The two teams will play again on Sunday, March 28 at 1 p.m. at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur.
