Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | Morgan Vogels

Men's Volleyball Downed by Ranked Carthage

The Millikin Men's Volleyball team traveled to Kenosha, Wis. to match up against the Firebirds of Carthage College. Carthage was ranked fourth in the most recent AVCA men's volleyball Division III poll, released March 2. The Firebirds remain undefeated, after downing the Big Blue in three sets (15-25, 17-25, 18-25).

The Firebirds started game one on an 8-0 run, and the Big Blue couldn't recover. Game two and three saw more back and forth action in the scoring column, with Millikin down 17-21 in game two before Carthage went on a 4-0 run to end the set. In set three, a Colby Campbell kill extended the game, but was not enough to overcome the Firebirds.

Millikin was led at the net by Kyle Clendenen who tallied seven kills, with Peter Sailsman and Jakob Henderson adding five apiece. Henderson also notched two service aces. Jose Gallardo led MU with 17 assists, and Fred Halper tallied nine digs.

Parker Connolly led Carthage with 10 kills.

The Big Blue will continue conference play on Wednesday, March 10 when they match up against the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan University.
