Making Millikin's first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Big Blue baseball team was eliminated from the NCAA Division III Decatur, Illinois Regional with a 5-2 loss to the number one ranked team in Division III Washington University-St. Louis on May 28.
The Bears jumped out to an early lead scoring single runs in the first two innings. Caleb Durbin had an RBI single in the first inning. Bo Anderson and Hunter Goldberg doubled in the second to make it 2-0. WashU added two unearned runs in the fifth after a Big Blue error. The Bears scored an insurance run in the seventh. Tim Van Kirk had three hits for the Bears.
Millikin got on the board in the sixth when Frank Bryan singled and scored on a two-run home run by Brent Beals. Bryan had two hits for Millikin.
Ryan Loutus was the winning pitcher for the Bears pitching a complete game allowing five hits and two runs while striking out 11.
Millikin finishes the season with a 30-16. Washington University-St. Louis is now 30-3 on the season.
