Millikin Wrestling Suffers First CCIW Dual Loss

The Millikin University wrestling team lost its first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) dual of the season 28-15 at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois on January 21. The Big Blue are now 16-3 overall and 5-1 in the CCIW. North Central is undefeated in conference action and takes over first place.

The night started well for Millikin with freshman Coby Haney winning at 125 pounds 4-0 over Julian Valtierrez. The Big Blue's second win on the night came at 165 pounds with Bradan Birt winning by fall at 1:01 over Payton Geigner. Birt improved to 23-0 on the season and is ranked second in NCAA DIII in the most recent NWCA rankings. Micah Downs got the Big Blue's final victory at 184 with a pin over Jack Hominac at the 2:26 mark.

The 133 pounds match featured two nationally ranked wrestlers with number one ranked Robbie Precin of North Central defeating Millikin's Zac Blasioli 3-2. Blasioli is ranked ninth in the nation.

Millikin will be back in action on Saturday at North Central with two duals in the CCIW Dual event.
