Men’s Basketball Loses at Augustana

The Millikin men's basketball team learned that winning a game at home and winning on the road in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) are two totally different things. The Big Blue lost 76-64 at Augustana College on January 22 in Rock Island, Illinois. Back in December, Millikin dominated the Vikings winning 70-45.
 
The Vikings led 31-20 at halftime with Millikin playing better in the second half with Augustana outscoring the Big Blue 45-44. Millikin shot 36 percent (21-58) from the field and made 8-25 (32 percent) from three-point range. The Big Blue were 14-18 from the free throw line. Millikin was hurt by turnovers committing 20 that lead to 20 Vikings points. Augustana shot 41.5 percent (27-65) from the field making 7-28 from three-point range. The Vikings held the edge rebounding 38-34.
 
Senior Calvin Fisher led Millikin with 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. Drake Stevenson scored nine points and had seven rebounds. DeMarcus Bond had nine points with five boards.
 
Dan Carr was the difference in the game for Augustana. In December, Millikin held the Vikings top scorer to just three points. This time around Carr had a double double with 25 points and 18 rebounds. Luke Johnson added 10 points for the Vikings.
 
Millikin is now 10-8, 5-4 while Augustana improved to 9-9, 4-5.
