Millikin Volleyball Sweeps Pair of Opponents on Senior Day

The Big Blue women's volleyball hit the court at the Griswold Center for day two of the 2022 Millikin Invitational and celebrated their seniors on Saturday, October 1. Millikin swept both Central College and Fontbonne University to move to 3-0 on the tournament weekend. 

In game one against Central, the Big Blue won 25-10, 25-22, and 25-15. Leading the way in kills was Kailee Itzenhuiser with 21 along with 12 digs. Sandy Brindl tallied three service aces and 15 assists. Olivia Grbavac added 19 assists and two service aces. Sophia Howell was second on the team in digs with 11 digs. 

For the Dutch, Natalie Gaszynski, Taylor Richards, and Gracie Daniels all tallied six kills. 

In the matchup against Fontbonne, the Big Blue were led by Tori Stuart with 10 kills. Itzenhuiser added eight kills and two service aces. Grbavac topped the assist numbers with 16, and Brindl notched 14. Julianna Vassallo led the team in digs with 15. The Big Blue won 25-11, 25-12, and 25-19. 

For the Griffins, Morgan Horrell tallied the top number of kills with seven. 

Along with the tournament wins, the Big Blue celebrated the successes of four seniors: Stephanie Holsinger, Jessi Kreder, Tori Stuart, and Julianna Vassallo. 

Millikin will be back in action on Friday, October 7 at the WashU Invite with their first matchup slated against the Lady Blues of Illinois College.
